  1. Just saw the ESPN story on LA Confidential. Not big into cycling...just
wondering how Lance Armstrong defenders explain away the cumulative issues
circling around Armstrong and drug use.

Has Armstrong ever addressed the accounts of his personal masseuse?

Has Lance ever been asked to comment on David Miller's ability to have never
(like him) tested positive yet concede to EPO doping for years?

And what's with Lance's "strong arm" (no pun intended) tactics with people?
Did you see the ESPN story? Does not strike as a kind or event decent person
    at all.
I believe Greg LeMond and that other guy that said Lance threatend him.

Watched a couple of reporters say if he was not a cancer survivor....he's be
considered to be one of the most arrogant SOB's in sports. True?

    Not to my knowledge.

I don't know. I assume so, but I never heard about it.

Easy to believe. He threatens detractors with lawsuits, is that what you
    mean?

LOL...probably true. I can think of many athletes that are worse, but Lance
gets away with it in a sport where it is normally not tolerated.

Nah. It doesn't matter what I think, but if I were riding the Tour I
wouldn't want to deal with anything other than racing right
now--certainly wouldn't want to be responsible for refuting anything
others would say. That's for his lawyers.
Unless there is a "smoking gun", it's all heresay--and it's awfully
hard to prove a negative in any case.
I don't know how you handle these kind of cases--most folks still think
    OJ was guilty, but...

I believe he commented that she was wrong, mistaken, or something to
    that effect.

To be fair, Lance isn't the doping authority and expecting him to
respond for every other rider is quite a stretch.

I think Greg felt threatened. The phone conversation was published and
effectively Lance suggested he, or anyone else, could cast doubts about
Lemond's career, but they don't because the respected him (or perhaps
hadn't thought of it.) Why couldn't Greg respect Lance and give him the
benefit of a doubt. The bit by Lemond in 2001 in Sports Illustrated was
about as welcome and subtle as a lead pipe to the back of the head.

Lance was arrogant in his early days, which he acknowledges. To doubt
he battled cancer and think he's some kind of medical experiment to
seize 6 TdF victories is about as whack as scientology. I'm sure every
reporter, of the throngs who mob Armstrong, who doesn't get his question
answered may harbor thoughts that it's Armstrong's fault.

A couple years back the reporters from the TdF gave Armstrong a lemon, a
symbolic award to the rider least friendly to the press. A year later
he got the orange, symbolizing the rider most friendly to the press.

yes. he said she made it up.

probably, but I don't think he's ever commented on it on the record

    Quoted message said:

And what's with Lance's "strong arm" (no pun intended) tactics with people?

    two ways to interpret it:
    1. a guy whose image is being tarnished by these accusations is using all
    power at his disposal to strike back or;
    2. a guy who is guilty trying to keep people from talking

did you see the whole interview with Greg Lemond? According to Lemond,
Armstrong threatened to go public with certain dirt (presumably related to
doping) he had on Lemond from the 80s. What's interesting here is that Lemond
actually honored Armstrong's threat by keeping silent for three years. Why
would he do that if he has nothing to hide?

yes. does that lessen the impact of his accomplishments? You be the judge...

Lance does not have 'certain dirt (presumably related to doping)' on Lemond.

He said, words to the effect, 'I'll find ten people who'll say you took
    EPO'.

well again, if Lemond is so innocent, I fail to see how this threat could
intimidate him into three years of silence.

What does that say about Armstrong's integrity?

From where I sit, it is a knife that cuts both ways. Sure, you could look
at it like he is some Mafia don, or, you could look at it like he is saying
'I'll do to you what you're doing to me'.

I have no inside information and have found nothing in the public record
that makes up my mind one way or the other.

I do know that Lemond's use of performance enhancing drugs is not on the
radar of most fair minded people.
