Lance Armstrong did not show up for the pre-race press conference today. Dan Osipow Vice President of Tailwind sports announced that Lance would not be at the press conference as he was ill. Osipow reported that Lance had a 102 fever. Lance's daughter was ill, then his son and it was passed on down to Lance. Osipow said that Lance was resting today and tomorrow and expected to line up for the start on Sunday at 11:00.
Let the speculation begin....
By the way I rode up in the elevator with Nicole Cooke and Diana Ziliute and rode down with Giby Simoni.
How was the weather up there? It was hotter than fsck in San Jose (had to run out to the bike shop for rip tape since I forgot it yesterday when picking up some tubes, saw an Explorer in flames on 880) Pretty warm in Santa Cruz with just a few cool breezes coming in.
Speculating what to wear to the race as I don't want to be hauling a gram more than necessary. I'll be volunteering again, 3rd year, and have to appear at Marina Middleschool (sure hope there's parking!)

Man, Gilberto has some funky taste in shades. I am sure that particular model is all the rage on the Via Veneto but they sure look strange to me.
Yeah, but as Mark said, he's got charisma. You can see he's pretty animated. Stefano, OTOH looks like he's there for booking and Alexandre looks like he's being punished. Someone needs to hire these guys some coaches.

High of "only" 75 degrees (24C) in SF on Sunday. It's been WAY TOO HOT since Wednesday. Disgusting.
Fog will be coming in Saturday night. Bet your SportsBook.com on it.

Fog is good, as long as there's street level visibility. Make for a fast race if it's cool. 2001 it was cool and breezy, marine layer for the first couple hours before burning off to some sun. Last year seems it was pretty warm.

Those stupid retro-70ies shades have been popular here in Italy for the past year or two. I hope they look back in 10 years and realize they looked like dipshits with the stupid things on.

Always a reason to celebrate.
Seems like any time I see a car on fire, it's either a Ford or Chrysler product...
