Lance Armstrong in NYC marathon

There was a long discussion about that a few months ago. Of course he
didn't run the marathon. It would have ruined his chances of winning
Paris-Roubaix, Flanders, and the Tour de France next year. When he's
finished bike racing, you'll find him in Formula 1. That's where the
real money is. Not in bike racing, not in marathoning.

Lance did not run it. It was in fact his ex-wife, the one he dumped for Cheryl
Crow......that's the person that ran....

can lance have sex? (wait a minute...that sounds kind of strange). let me be
more clear. can "that lance" have sex? cyclist on his level are notorius for
having prostate problems from all those hours on that seat + lance has one
testicle from his bout w/cancer.

looks like a double whammy to me. toss into that equation the much rumoured
steriod use and i'd say lance has a "perfect storm" of factors to prevent a
guy from being able to "get it up".

lance probably pops viagra like rush limbaugh does oxycontin. if was in lance's
shoes, i'd be banging cheryl crow with my yellow shirt on while screaming,
"'i'm king of the wooooorrrrrrlllllddddd"......all i wanna do, is have some
fun!

Lance doesn't have the talent for F1. If he had any talent or interest in
motor sports to begin with, he missed his chance long ago. He's too old for
anything other than some regional SCCA or the local short track on Saturday
night.

Not that someone from Texas would be interested in F1. NASCAR, maybe. But
F1? Those funny little foreign cars? Not a chance. :-)

You are correct about the money, though. What's Schumacher make, about $100
million a year? $40 million base salary, plus another $60 mil in
endorsements? That's some real money there.

<sigh> The fact is, Lance left Kristin long before he met Cheryl.

Are you sure that particular Kristin Armstrong is in fact Lance's ex, or is
it the bike racer with the same name? People get those two ladies confused
all th time.

she said she was running New York and that Lance had said on a late-night talk
show (Leno, I think) that he was running it.

Lance knows that the Tour is won or lost in august, september, october,
november, december, january, february, march, april, may, june, and
july. He knows that a casual marathon in november wouldn't hurt his
recreational century rides next year.

A casual marathon (which is all it would have been) would have had no

you state this is a fact, it's not, it's really just your opinion that's
disregarding realities that could be born out of him "casually" running a
marathon.

example: what if he pulls a groin muscle in the course of this casual run?
this does happen to the most prepared and trained and coached and
skilled..eltite athletes. that could easily mean a 6 month recovery for
lance....and presto, his cycling racing could be "F'ed" for all of '05 very
easily.

what if he somehow "rolls" an ankle? stains/stretches ligaments in his knee,
foot? i could list a myriad of injuries elite distance runners incur in the
course of running a marathon that Lance Armstrong is not immune to, all of
which could screw up his cycling training/racing for '05 or completely destroy
his '05 season like a major groin pull

ya know..."unforseen" injuries happen to the best of athletes even when they
are going at something "casually", that's what the insurance industry is all
about.

besides, i'm sure Lance has all sorts of nullification/void clauses in his
contracts with lots of companies wherein he's not to engage in extreme sports,
and i bet marathon running is listed as an extreme sport, right along with Hang
Gliding and Mountain Climbing, and Bunji Jumping, etc.

Lastly, you're forgetting Mike.....Lance Armstrong. Do you think he does
anything "casually"? No matter what he said, if I was his
agent/manager/trainer I would never put him in the position of being
competitive and stressing his body because I know he's likely to go "all out".
Me thinks that's the only way he knows how to do things. Total effort. Ya
see he's talking Formula 1 (the very top) to explore racing when he probably
should check out the Quarter Midget Go Kart circuit or something....
