A walk I have done often (for personal reasons) is to take the Keswick
launch to Hawes End, then climb Cat Bells, drop down from the saddle past
Cat Bells, backing north to the landing stage below it, then round the south
end of the Lake to Lodore. At this stage you can catch another launch at
Lodore or follow the east side of the lake all the way back to Keswick. The
pull up Cat Bells is short but steep, the rest is just a stroll, and you get
the choice of walk length at Lodore.

Boat from Glenridding to Howtown (Ullswater), then walk back along the
shore. A wonderful low-level walk.

A longer high level one is to go up to the High Street ridge from
Patterdale, walk down the ridge to Pooley Brige, then get the boat back to
Glenridding.

Starting at Glenridding, take the boat to Howtown. Then depending on fitness
walk back along the lake shore (7 miles), over Place Fell, or up onto the
High Street ridge.

The service isn't too frequent out-of-season so it's probably best to use
the boat for the outward journey.

I led a group of hostellers from Honister many years ago. We walked down
to Derwent Water by the capsite then caught the launch at the hotel
by the lake (name forgotten). It went clockwise and we needed to get to
Watendlath so that meant about 300 degrees around the lake to Ashness.
I negotiated a bulk discount! Took in the tearoom at Watendlath and then
ambled back to Honister.

This was obviously a low-level stroll but it's easy to turn it into
fell walking - perhaps taking in Maidens Moor and Dale Head to get
to Honister.
