    ------------------------------------
CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Greek prosecutors have levied charges against the Athens
laboratory that botched the blood test of American Olympic gold medal cyclist
    Tyler Hamilton.

Prosecutors Spyros Mouzakitis and Athena Theodoropoulou, who have been the lead
prosecutors in a number of doping cases related to the Athens Olympics, charged
"unknown perpetrators" with allegedly destroying a backup sample of Hamilton's
    blood.

Can someone please tell me what crime was committed? Oh and don't say
tampering with evidence, because I don't believe any actual crime was
committed. This is an independent lab and not acting on behalf of a
criminal investigation. Maybe they could file charges against the
employee for intentionally (if it was) damaging property, but geez what
a crock of [censored]. This doping is serious business. I mean Hamilton has
ROBBED some other doper of a medal. Must correct this injustice.

We need a Greek lawyer. It could be crimal tampering might apply.
Remember, these games were very important to Greece and the lab is in
Athens. Pride may be on the line.

The lab may have some sort of official or statutory protection. Where's
    that Greek lawyer?

You don't really think Ekimov and Julich were juicing, do you?!! I'll bet
Lance will attest to Elimov's cleanliness as part of team policy and
Hamilton will attest to Riis and Julich's cleanliness..........oh, never
    mind.

I am going to go out on a limb and assume you are smart enough to
accept that a mistake or being given incorrect instruction on handling
a blood sample is not result in a criminal charge. Unless you think
someone paid for the sample to be destroyed and then maybe. No way I
believe that this was the case.

Actually, I was thinking of the person, or persons unknown and what charges
could be made for the physical entry into the lab for the purpose of
committing a crime. Lots of fun stuff for a bar exam question.

Ingnorance of what. Bike racing? The Law? Or that the concern over
someone cheating in sports does not seem like the worlds greatest
crime. Dumbass it is a sport. I hope that the person they prosecute has
a wife and 10 kids to support, and was working at the lab after he put
himself through school to improve his families quality of life, and
that they find him guilty of screwing up the test and sentence him 10
years in prison. Then justice will be served for Ekimov.

You guys have been misreading this whole thing. Here's what happened: a
lab was charged for destroying Hamilton's sample. Tugboat was a lab, no?
Tugboat went to dog heaven, maybe? Dog's, especially labs, have telepathic
powers, yes? Tugboat used canine telepathy to tell a Greek lab to destroy
his old master's sample, and the lab got caught. Now he has to do the time.
Off to the pound with him, because after all, the lab was charged for
    destroying Hamilton's sample. Elementary.

Clarify this for me - is that in direct reference to his sentence you
    quoted?

Speaking from ignorance, but then again, married guys get used to
that. After awhile, its out first line of defense.
