Well, not actually the bike he's riding, as the one in Wired
Magazine happens to sport a shop sticker on it that looks
just a wee bit like our own... (we tried to sneak a couple
of our logo'd bottle cages onto it as well, but they removed
them for the photo, dang!).

The bike was shortly thereafter sold to a customer, complete
with a scratch or two on the fork (which will be replaced at
the owner's 30-day check). He thinks it's pretty cool that
*his* bike is in the magazine.

Then perhaps you'd like to cite when any Trek aluminum bikes
were used in the Tour? Many of those Eddy Merckx's being
used by several teams are aluminum and they aren't breaking.
Axel Merckx is a really big guy and he isn't breaking
aluminum bikes.

I have a team Lotto Vitus 992 circa 1994 and it is still in
prefect mechanical condition.

Properly designed and constructed bicycles of any material
do not fail.

Yea, we are saying you are wrong. No one on the Postal team
is riding a plastic bike in the Tour, certainly not LA.
(Carbon fiber is not plastic.) Nor is anyone riding an
aluminum Trek and no one has for a long time so it's beyond
me how you could know how long they would last.

Having said that, if someone were to ride the 2300 frame
(the best Trek makes in Al these days) I'm personally having
a tough time believing that they would routinely not last
through a stage.

i saw that article too, pretty picture - terrible text

imo, wired has gone down, it started as cyber/tech magazine
and has turned into rich kid's toy buyer's guide. i
especially don't appreciate how much car ads are in it this
days. i got free suscription due to credit card bonus, i
wish miracle happens that maybe an interesting article will
come by again.

that cyclometer sounds way cooler than the whole bike.
