  1. Anyone know if there is enough walking on La Gomera for a 2-week

La Gomera is a volcanic Island the size of the Isle of Wight, but with
    considerable ups and downs
    http://www.newex.co.uk/walking_holidays_la_gomera.htm
sufficient walking for this year/next year and later without retracing your
    steps.

Try Google Earth, and bring the viewpoint down to near sea level, you can
then see the lush radial valleys, and the ridges which divide them.

Roads are new and well metalled but a bit precipitous.
nervous bus passengers should stick to the IOW.

    Enjoy

Had a week there in October 2003 (booked with Sherpa
http://www.sherpa-walking-holidays.co.uk/ who appear to be offering an
8-day & an 11-day trip for La Gomera on their website at the mo) and had
a great time. Stayed in some lovely places and the walking is good.
Certainly plenty for a week with some left over.

I wouldnt have thought so. I went to tenerife last year and there was
enough there for about three weeks. lanzarote, probably a week. My aim one
year is to do a month of island hopping but I cant imagine spending more
than a few days on La Gomera or Hierro unless you want to lie on the beach
and so on. there are ferries between the islands so you might find that
    optional.

    Rob,

I think you are being a little ungenerous there, unless you are the kind of
person who can say that three weeks is enough to cover Snowdonia (for
example). You may cover all the main peaks in La Gomera in a few days /
week, but there will still be endless variations in routes to take. I guess
it depends on how you get your enjoyment in the hills. Is it covering the
main routes / peaks to get a flavour of the area or really getting to know
it by taking different routes in the same area. I have been up Snowdon by
four different routes, all very different, and I will probably go up it at
least a couple more times via other routes. There's the best part of a week
on one hill with very different walking / views each day (Watkin, PYG,
Ranger and Rhyd Ddu paths and that's just the way ups). Until you get to
that eyesore of a cafe that is. Anyone got any spare semtex?

    Have fun,
    Paul
