Perhaps he meant Kazakstan, homeland of riders like Deluca,
Salvodelli and Ulrich.
Not quite -
Kazakhstan = Latin letter, English language representation of the country
Kazakhistan = Latin letter, French language representation of the country
From the latest letter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (KZ) to the UN,
regarding the public form of use for this country's name.
Arising from 1) Kazakhstan - originally requested at the time of new
independence ; 2) Kazakstan - when the first law on national official
language was implemented which uses a letter looking much like a "K" ; 3)
Kazakhstan - when the official orthographers recognized that the special
letters representing the consonant would be better understood and pronounced
with the "KH" combination. (Follow parallels for French versions.)
Other fascinating legal and bureaucratic informaition available on request,
as I lived and worked there for 4 years. Duller than what ? Can't imagine.
