Tom, how did you come up with the assertion that "the human body has a
difficult time detecting anything smaller than 2% variations
successfully"?
Did you just make that up, or did you actually have a real finding in
mind that you then just mixed-up.
If it's the latter, there's no shame in that. I mix things up myself
from time to time.
