Kryptonite Lock Replacements

On the subject of tubular locks does this problem only apply to
Kryponite locks? or are all tubular locks suspect?

I have seen the videos and for a company making 'bullet proof' locks
it is a pretty severe fault but there are car steering locks and many
other devices which use the same type of circular locking device.

All tubular locks are susceptible to the pick..

and vending machines.. they are all pickable, though
some more easily than others.

It affects many, but not all, tubular locks.
When the pins are pushed in by the soft-plastic pen, they won't go past
their keyed position. So picking is trivial.

I've followed this up today with a call to the Aust agent for kryptonite
Cassons in Sydney 02 96841210

they said deal direct thru the online form on the kryptonite site

it seem the fastest way to deal with the issue as more parties involved
slows the system

I told them the model pen I had in front of me (still available to buy)
they said they would try 🙁

anyway it seems most locks with round key (inc copies) are susceptible to
this flaw
there is now talk of laptop desk locks being picked 🙂

take your lock back to shop if at all worried
email me direct if you want brand of pen to prove it
I have 6 or so pens for free if local to Melbourne

Sadly Im not sure who the bullsh1t artiste is/are, but I got a different story out of cassons and kryptonite.

Cassons said that they would have replacement locks *IN AUS* mid jan, and now they wont reply to email.

I registered locks for replacement with kryptonite via their website, 2 on the 30/9/04, 2 on the 24/11, and have followed up via their complaints form. Not once did I get a reply from kryptonite.

Until I have reason to consider otherwise, it really looks that kryptonite really sucks, and you wont catch me defending their aus distro for leading me along either.

The recall is good, but they need to give an idea of timeframes.

I don't have Kryponite lock but I do have a car lock with the same
circular style key I wonder if the problem affects them?

Hi there,
similar story here, I registered, didn't hear anything until around
December when I got an email asking me to verify details. I did that and
emailed them again. A reply came mid January telling me that I am on
the list but no date could be given.

Wait and see, I can understand that it is difficult to exchange millions
(?) of locks worldwide...
