Sounds like it was inspired by the "Big Luther" from the TV show The Boondocks.

All that is missing is the deep fried Mars Bar for dessert!
Seriously though, I thought donuts were by definition sweet. Why would you use thme instead of regular buns to enclose hamburgers? Only in America!

I read the article in the local paper (the Gateway Grizzlies are a St. Louis area team), seems the Luther burger has been around for a while, supposedly attributed to Luther Vandross.

Not only in America. I love Chinese curry buns -- the batter they are fried in tastes like doughnut batter, sugared doughnut batter in fact. http://www.chinesebakery.co.uk/savoury.html

And don't use a browser other than IE. The site just spews all over the page in anything else I could try.

I wouldn't. :-) I make burgers only at home, and make them into lettuce wraps.
But I'm eternally low carbing. <g> -- Peace, Om.

Also, the KK burger is getting to be pretty common anyways. The first I heard of it, was under the name "Luther Burger" from some bar in GA (they also have a concoction that looks divine called the "hamdog" - hotdog wrapped in ground beef, deep fried and then served on a hoagie roll with chili, onions, cheese & fried eggs). But heck, I read that In n' Out even has the KK burger now.
They sold out! They were known for their "homemade" style.
I'm not convinced that's a real In-N-Out product. In-N-Out only puts lettuce on one side of their patties, and nowhere near as much as is shown in that picture. If that's even an In-N-Out burger, I'm betting that somebody got one "Protein Style" (i.e. wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun) and put it between the doughnut halved themselves.
