I had the problem of retearing the hamstring constantly because I recovered so fast😄 . My physio told me to stop walking around so much.

The day i had my first reconstruction I was the last and I counted 8 people in the recovery room who had their knees done that morning.

  2. Hey,

I have almost the same story. I was 19 and suffered a 4+ ACL tear. Thats where a full dislocation occurrs. It was 1985 and reconstructions were not as advanced. I opted for a patellular graft. A second reconstruction was needed later. They used a cadaver [donar] ligiment. It has lasted for 13 years.

The first reconstruction was a conventional surgery. It was a long and very painfull recovery. The second was an authroscopic surgey, It was simular to the pain from the original injury. I suggest getting your knee fixed and you will find that you will be back to the old life soon.

A word of caution the ACL is the major stabalizing ligiment. However, if the smaller ligiments and tissues are not repaired you may feel an instability even though your knee is for all purposes working correctlly.

Finally find a surguen that does many operations. The more the better. Also the less tissue disturbed in the reconstruction the better. I have found that moving things around is not better than opting for a cadaver ligament of an artificial one. This is because when the grafts heal you dont have to work through what essentually is a torn ham string injury as well.

Im not a doctor just a patient with a hind site perspective.

    good luck!😎
