I just recentley switched to cleats from regular tennis shoes on my bike. I love the cleats, however, I went a week to a week and half and then a began to get a pain in my upper inside knee on the muscle. I took several days off, and it still hurt, I would get to like mile 13 and it would start. I have adjusted the saddle height and also my cleat position so that my foot is pointed in more. I took 6 days off and went riding today and it started to hurt again at mile 13, however not as bad though and the pain was barable. It is in my left knee and no pain is in the right knee. Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has had this happen to them before and what you did to fix it. I plan on adjusting the cleat a little more. I do train a lot and pretty intense, 6 days a week at 135 miles total. So thanks for letting me ramble, just concerned!! Thanks guys!!🙂

When you say your foot is pointed in more, does that mean that your toes are in and heel out? You should go the other way. Adjust them so that your heel or ankle bone almost touch the crank arm.
If you switch back to your tennis shoes for a ride does that solve the problem? It really may not be caused directly by the cleats, but rather could have simply coincided with the change. -
I have been getting the same feeling after being clipless for 2 weeks. It's in my left knee right in that diamond shaped muscle on the inner leg. I may need to go to my LBS for a proper cleat fitting. Do you need to go in with your bike when having this done. I would assume so.
Anyway, any advice would be helpful.

I believe I had a similar problem when I was experimenting with my saddle position ...
It may have happened when I moved my saddle back a bit, but did not move it down ...
I think, but don't recall, that the pain went away after I made a complementary, downard correction to the saddle position by lowering the seatpost about 1/4" ... I think I had moved the saddle back by about a centimeter.
It might not help, but try EITHER lowering your saddle between and 1/8th and 1/4 inch OR moving it forward, slightly ... OR, both!?!

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I recently moved my saddle back a bit but will now move it forward to its original position. I'll let you know what I discover.
Thanks

Well, I have moved my saddle forward as moving it back seemed to cause more pain. I have also pointed my left foot so the heel is turning towards the crank. I'm still getting the pain and I'm not sure why.

Okay, the knee pain is subsiding. I have raised my saddle height about 1 inch and voila. What a difference. I hope this helps others.

Check your bike fit first starting with your cleats. Use the first Lemond Methond, follow the instructions on the links, then ride and see how you feel.

It sounds like a simple bike fit problem. You'll still need to start slow and allow healing.
