  1. Went to a sports-physio today. Apparently my knee problem might be due to
    "pelvic imbalance".

Perhaps I should take a spirit level when I go on the hills!

    :-)

I don't know what to make of all that stuff the sports physios come up
with. I developed achilles tendonitis in both legs a few years ago due
to running, and gradually developed a whole series of increasingly
debilitating other pains that varied in nature and severity over a
period of about 2 years. I went to a sports physio, who sent me to a
podiatrist. He told me my achilles tendons were both too short (ankle
equinus...) and something else terribly confusing (istr it was 'ankle
equinus with a suspicion of a rear foot saggital block', or something
    equally weird).

Anyway, he suggested that I should buy an expensive pair of orthotics
for my running shoes, and told me I could get some made for my work
boots/shoes too. Naturally I bought both sets, since who wants to walk
around in pain all the time if it's possible to buy a way out? Looking
back, though, the orthotics didn't help at all. I no longer have the
pain, but tha'ts because I hardly run at the moment.

Maybe he was right, or maybe it was mumbo-jumbo. I really don't know:
I suspect that only an orthopaedic surgeon would really know.

I'm not sure that this helps at all - probably not - but I hope you
get a more satisfactory outcome than I did! Best of luck.

Well this is a walking NG, so presumably for a kit review.

NG = New Goretex (for walking *on* water)?

  12. Hey, I do not know about the :level: but my chiropractor adjusts my
pelvic imbalance before and after trips. It seems to make one leg act
    shorter than the other.

let us not slip into bawdy tawdry remarks about any causes for pelvic
    imbalance.

  13. It turns out that my knee problem is due to the muscles on the outside of my
leg being much stronger than those on the inside, so my kneecap is not
moving across as it should do. This leads to the pain I get when climbing
steps or kneeling down. My physio has given me some exercises to follow,
aimed at strengthening the weaker muscles.
I have no idea of the names of the particular muscles but this might help me
    when I do find out-

Well make sure you do them!

I could see you were in pain on Exped (insert number here) and it
brought back memories of how *I* used to be. Things /can/ get better!

Things are getting better! Been to see my physio this morning and she agrees
with me that the situation is improving. I've now got to keep on with the
exercises and have been discharged from clinic.
