I think i'll forgo the wheels and opt for something edible. Must be the

Whilst looking very designer and "cool", why cover/fill the wheel area?
it'll cost you in a side wind.

On the contrary, the aerodynamic benefit goes up in a side wind, although
steering gets more difficult. Improving the aerodynamics of the front
wheel makes a big difference to overall aerodynamic efficiency, worth a
lot of seconds in ten miles. The back wheel less so, but you get less
problems with handling.

They're time trial wheels, and wind loading is the reason the front isn't

He probably won't use these wheels on windy days anyway (although
interestingly the theoretical benefit of disk wheels goes up on Windy
says). Certainly a deep section wheel can take control of the steering in
side-winds, and as time trial bikes are often a bit sketchy anyway in the
steering department this isn't altogether a good thing...

That's my biggest worry - I've got to get used to the handling on windy
days. Ulp!

Mine too, though my wheels are considerably smaller and lower than
yours. So far I've done around 300 miles or so with the front wheel
covers on, and it appears not so bad. There's a little kiting with
sidewinds, and the occasional alarming handling change as I go through
a strong gust, but so far the swerves haven't been more than 30cm at
worst at road level, and most much smaller than that. The "upper"
part of the bike doesn't move nearly as much due to the correction.

There's a little kiting from just the tailbox for that matter.
Overall the peak speeds on fast sections over my SE London commute
seem to be quite a bit higher, and the average seems up a little too.
It's hard to tell, as I'm doing more mileage this year and am thus a
little fitter. That's not really saying much though, I'm just an
average commuter really.
