Khs Xc 504

I don't know yet. I just bought the frame and rearshock from jensonusa.com for 299.00. I'm going to build it up this weekend. I also found a Rock Shox Judy XLC dual crown fork for 199.00 at icycles.com. The rest of the stuff will be XT\LX. This frame looks almost like a Santa Cruz Heckler for a hell of a lot less money. If it sucks, it will be a good back up bike. Never can have enough bikes.

i got the whole setup form jenson for $850 (just before it went down to 750 grr)\
I'm no expert, but the bike looks mint, and performance - well, its like all the component reviews say, front shock a little poor, crank - flexible - not best, brakes awesome -not one squeak! bedded right in. Overall i'm totally happy, but i'm just a sunday xc biker 🙂)

I don't know if they still do but Jenson used to have a 30day price protection so if you bought anything from them and the price droped before 30 days they would refund the difference. You might want to check into it. I used to do it all the time 🙂

Why did you buy that fork? For $199 you can buy so many modern forks that will perform WAY better than that judy.

This will be my first full on mountain bike. I've been and always will be at heart a roadie. For now I'm a clydesdale (240#) but not for long. I'm thinking a dual crown fork will be a lot stronger for me and this one is affordable. Later, when I get the weight down where I want it I'll reward myself with the newest, greatest fork out there.

Most modern single crown forks are strnger than those old judy's. The problem with that judy is that the stanction tubes and lowers are skinny old designs which are much weaker AND heavier than the oversized crowns, stanctions, and lowers used today. They will actually flex much more under your weight. The quality of the damping is also very poor in comparison. You should look into something like a Manitou Black, RS Psylo, Duke, or Marzocchi MX series. The difference in performance and feel will be night and day.
