Before I get flamed, I'm a new user - not a troll. I haven't read this group for years and came back
to see if it'd be a good place to sell my bike.
To answer your question, my wife rides a 1999 KHS FXT Trail. It was/is very inexpensive and heavy,
but it's dependable -- cheap, but not a piece of junk. I added better brakes and tires, gripshift
shifters, as well as Juliana parts: (Seat and grips) + old parts off my Specialized FSR XC - my
handlebars and stem. She LOVES her bike and rarely rides it, but I have ridden it on a BMX track as
well as on level singletrack and on some mild downhills in Asheville,
VA. It was well worth the $380 clearance price that I paid for it, since it was the best dual
suspension bike available at that price-point. But you are apparently spending much more than
that. For $1300 (which is what i gather you are spending), I would definitely look around since
there are so many options in that price range. KHS *IS* a decent company judging fro my
experience with it, but there is an abundance of bikes at that pricepoint, especially if you
buy the bike at a clearance price. That's just my two cents. -GABE-
