I think it is cool that the body has alternate fueling functions. Before
low carb, I never would have guessed at such a thing.
My guess is that living in Ketosis has a different group of advantages and
disadvantages than living on glucose. My hope is that it is a better
choice. My subjective experience is that there are great benefits. These
include complete control of type 2 diabetes and a stopping of routine dental
decay. There are probably some diseases only found in those who live in
Ketosis, but for now, anything has to be a superior choice to the effects of
diabetes.
I might note that I have read that the brain can use L-Glutamine as an
emergency fuel source. -That would make 3 brain fuels: Glucose, Ketones,
and L-Glutamine
