  13. I have Kestrel 4000 size 58cm with Campy parts. I believe it's 1987. The serial # is 10321 (think the 10 is added and 321 represents production number) Contact me if interested.

  14. I own a Kestrel 4000 1987 model. The seat post measures 61 cm, but the top tube is 58 cm. I am 5' 10" and the bike fits me perfect. This Kestrel has full Dura Ace from headset, down tube shifters, crank, chain rings, front and rear derailleur, hubs laced to Campy period wheels.

  18. Let me take a few photos. I'll send more details today. Leaving for a bike ride now.

  19. Hello Jomo254,

Let me be honest about this Kestrel 4000 before I spend time taking and sending photos. First, I am the second owner. It is a 1987 model and it has full Dura Ace groupo. The fork is steel not carbon and offers a smoother ride. I have owned the bike for two years. I took the bike to my mechanic for an overhaul. He took the bike completely apart, cleaned and greased all parts that require it. When he took off the bottle cages he noticed that a half inch crack occurred where the top screw holds the bottle cage. He is knowledgeable regarding bike frames and said that that small crack would be equivalent to a scab forming on a person's skin. The skin still functions despite a scab. I have ridden at least a thousand miles on this Kestrel and the small crack has not increased nor has it impacted my riding.

As for price. I paid $1000.00 for this bike. I will sell this Kestrel for the same price. Again this Kestrel has all Dura Ace from this time period. It is a six-speed with down tube shifters that can go to index shifting. The handle bar is Cinelli and the saddle is a white leather Concor saddle from the 1980s. The wheels are Campy Omega clincher laced to Dura Ace hubs that are incredibly smooth and quiet.

If you are still interested after reading my description, I will send you photos. There are many "cool factors" about this Kestrel but two that stand out for me are: this bike was made in the United States. How many people own a bike made in the United States? Second, this bike is historic as it is the first fully carbon frame bike. When other cyclist see this bike and I tell them it is a 1987 model, they cannot believe it is that old yet looks as if new.

    Regards,

    Bruce

  20. Hi Bruce, Thank you for your info. I've decided to find one near me at this stage. I appreciated your reply! Ron
