There are two that we have not heard from yet (my sister and
her husband) that have us worried. At least it has me
worried at the moment...perhaps others have heard from them
by now and news hasn't filtered to me. Their house was
apparently destroyed but we know that they were not there
during the storm. However, the last I heard they had tried
to leave the area (Ocean Springs/Biloxi) but couldn't get
out due to traffic congestion and instead of going home
checked into a hotel...in Biloxi.

My house is open to all of them, we just need to find them
and figure out how to get them here if they wish to come.

I'm in Alpharetta, just North of Atlanta. We didn't have
much direct impact from the storm other than a lot of rain.
There were a couple of tornadoes in the region but nothing
that affected my area directly. Some further folks North
were not so fortunate.

JJ---Im so sorry to hear this....You must be sick with worry. Cell
phons arent working and lines are down....so there's every good chance
your family is safe and ok somewhere and just cant get word to you.

Well, my jaunt to town this morning was interesting. Two of Murphy's
gas stations are closed---ran out of gas yesterday. The other two are
open at this time but the cashier said people are bringing in glass
containers of all kinds and "filling up", so she expects they will run
out by tomorrow. Gasoline for western NC comes thru north Ga., which
was hit hard by tornadoes. 2.83/ gallon. Maybe they ought to raise the
price....to stop the hoarding....?

Well...Ive got 60 pounds of kibble, 24 cans of Alpo and 2 cases of cat
food, LOL....

I got to thinking about the thousands of animals who must have already
died...the people being evacuated by bus arent allowed to bring their
pets. Man....Im trying to imagine being there and being told I cant
bring my dogs but I HAVE to leave. They'd have to carry me to the
nearest mental ward. How do you deal with that? I mean....HOW do you
leave Fido there on the roof....and jump into a helicopter or boat?

Im not just up for one of those "Sophie's Choice" kinda deals....nope.
Death is way preferable to surviving some horrors.

Being the smart and able person you are, you would have
likely cleared out with your dogs days before when the
warning was given. :-)

wishes. I just got word from my father that all family
members have now been accounted for and are safe. Still
with housing issues to be sure, but safe.

I'm in Virginia and I commute 50 miles each way to work and fill my gas tank
every 3 days. It's now to the point where I'm spending more on gas than on
my electric, cable, telephone and internet bills combined. If the gas price
continues to rise, I seriously don't know what I will do. Moving is not an
option right now, and my work housrs are too long and irregular to find
someone to car pool with.

Whatg gets me is that despite what the gas companies and gas stations claim,
it is PRICE GOUGING plain and simple. The gas that they are selling for
$3.15/gallon is the same gas that was $2.55 two days ago; they did not pay
more for it because the higher priced shipments have not come in yet.

Why doesn't the President do something about this opportunistic screwing of
the American public by the oil companies in this time of National crisis?
.... Oh yeah, that's right ... I almost forgot who he is, where he comes from
and who his best buddies are.

long time. So sorry that all that widespread death and destruction is
impacting your shopping. We'll take care of it right away.

Of course we all feel grief and sadness for this devastation. But life goes
on and we still have to deal with everyday life and look after our own
situations. Many of us depend on our vehicles and gasoline for our
livelihood, and we have to be concerned with it.

Are you saying that you've thrown off mortal bonds and have done nothing but
kneel in a church and pray since the tragedy struck? If not, you are an
extreme hipocrite.
