First, please check to make sure that no one
in the family has licked the sugar off overnight.
One way of telling is to see whose toothbrush is wet.

By the way, do you know what a tounge scrapper is?

You may have heavy metal poisoning... heavy metal literally, ie.
copper, zinc, cadmium, lead, etc.... not rock band/metalica. What do
you do for a living, have you recently done any painting, auto body
work, anything where you may have been exposed to metalic dust/fumes.
Btw, they call those bands heavy metal because anyone who likes that
noise has their taste in their ass... you may have your taste in your
ass too. Also, do you smoke, and I don't mean just tobacco, any kind
of smoke. You do realize that taste is a sensory perception determined
in the brain... overdosing on certain elements will short circuit the
ability to discriminate between the four basic tastes... you may have
over dosed on multivitamins/nutritional suppliments, are you taking any
new medications, especially OTC.

Which would explain a general loss of flavor, because
smell is a tremendous part of flavor perception.
But sweetness is one of the fundamental tastes.

Unless the guy has recently suffered a blow to the head,
I would guess it is a brain tumor. Has he ever had cancer?
Most brain tumors are metastasized from cancers in
other parts of the body.

Ah-hah! This explains why so many people watch reality tv! All those
people suffering from all those diseases have lost their taste!

Well, right after my hysterectomy everything I ate tasted
salty and anything naturally salty like bacon made me gag.
My doctor said it was probably due to hormonal fluctuations.
It gradually went away over a week or so but every now and
then I eat something that I think tastes saltier than it
should and wonder if it's coming back for a visit. :-)
