  1. Probably an old thread somewhere on this ng, but what do you all think about this? I eat a lot of
    [censored] myself.

Mc Donald's diet ruins mans health in 30 days. nypost.com16393.htm

  2. Heard about it. That guy is heading for a darwin award. Wonder will he try and prove that electric
    shocks can kill?

Anyone will tell you that you should try and vary your diet: KFC, Burger King & Starbucks too but
don't forget regular excercise, preferably using drive-ins a few miles apart. If you are just
starting leave the stopwatch at home and don't worry too much about your timing at this stage 🙂

The NY Post is a pretty sensationalist rag. Hardly the exemplar of research.

The guy in the article wants attention and the Post gave it to him. 15 minutes of fame over on the
    the next one.

What would have been an interesting and thought provoking article would be a diary of the guy's
eating habits and lifestyle before hand. Then compare his month of McDonalds eating to his baseline.
It is too easy to make a single change and claim it is the cause of all problems. It is hard to
actually prove that is what is taking place.

This kind of damage can also be "undone" very quickly. No one should know that better than runners.
I guess that reducing this to the "extremes" is the best way to prove the underlying dietary
principles. He's made his point, however grotesquely.

  5. The article is not very clear about whether or not Morgan Spurlock varied his diet at Mc Donald's or
not. It is possible to vary a diet at McD's a lot more today than you could 5 or 10 years ago. Was
it 3 meals a day of a Big Mac, large fries, and a Shake? or was there a salad and an Egg McMuffin
    once in a while.

Mind you, I'm not implying that I think eating 3 meals a day there for a month is a good for you. I
wouldn't even want to do it for a day.

  6. It should concern you that a can of Alpo dog food costs more than a complete meal at Taco Bell.

Just what the world needs: Another Atkins Diet "success" story. If he keeps at it, maybe he can have
a heart condition and be dead at 258 pounds too.

Come to think about it, maybe we should rename this the "troll diet" and it should be highly
recommended for certain posters of this NG.

The implication that McDonald's somehow forced this many to eat this way is frightening. What does
he expect? Should McDonald's be closed? Should the government legislate healthy eating?l

If I want to be fat and unhealthy is nobody's business but my own!

Too right! Eat roasted rabbits feet!

Except for the small fact that obesity costs American taxpayers in the range of 75 billion dollars
per year... and growing (pun intended).

As for the article, it's gone now... but I'm guessing it was about the Morgan Spurlock documentary,
"Super Size Me". There was no implication that anyone forced him to do anything, as you suggest. In
fact, he went on the 30 day McDonald's diet himself, voluntarily, as an experiment just to see what
the results would be and to document the whole thing on film. I believe the rules he set for himself
were that he had to eat everything off the menu at least once, he had to eat 3 meals per day there,
and if he was offered a 'Supersize', he had to take it. The result... his liver became toxic, his
cholesterol shot up from 165 to 230, his libido flagged and he suffered headaches and depression...
not to mention vomitting. Pretty funny actually. I hope he's back in better health now.
