  1. What I ate on July 17th.

After four days of writing down everything I eat, I am beginning to
get a clearer picture of why I am staying out of shape. I will not be
able to fix my nutritional/weight problems, until I know how bad my
habits are, and choose something healthy to replace them with.

So this is what I ate for July 17th.

    3 Coffees with Splenda
2 Eggs with Cheese on Pita bread
    5 Cigarettes
1 Medium Pop Corn (I think it had butter on it)
Skittle Candies (lots of them but I didn't' count..probably over one
    bag)
    1 Big Box of Raisenettes
    1 Cheeseburger on a Bun
    1 Hotdog on a bun
    1 Bag of M n M's candy
    3 Cigarettes
    8 Chocolate Kisses
2 Bowels of Frosted Flakes with Regular Milk

I guess I am eating a lot, and this is why I am 30 pounds overweight.
I really want to lose this weight but I have to get my eating under
control. And I want to stop smoking too.
So, what can I replace all this garbage with?
This is not a troll post.
    Thanks
    Healthy stealthy

  2. 1. Read the Atkins website, www.atkinscenter.com .
    2. Stop eating all that candy! How do you expect to lose any weight!
    3. Stop eating bread and popcorn, as well as cereal and milk (not to
    mention potatoes, rice, pasta, etc.).
    4. Eat some green vegetables, meat, eggs, fish, cheese.

I'm sure you will get some better answers, but this is what comes to mind as
    I read your letter.

A low-carb diet may be perfect for you. Did you read my response to your
first post? You may want to try Atkins, since the strict induction phase is
designed in part to kill your sweet tooth. Imagine how different your life
would be if candy tasted _too_ sweet, and bellpeppers tasted like candy!
That's how my tastebuds changed, and it happens to lots of people once they
give up candy and suchlike. As for quitting smoking, I'm afraid I can't
help you there, since I am struggling with that unsucessfully myself.

    Thanks Julia,
There is no doubt that I have to give up the sugars.

  6. I'll assume it's not a troll post, and give this advice, point blank
    with no mind games.

Cut out all the (may I say this?) [censored] food, cold-turkey. Start with
proteins, eggs, green leafy veggies, low GI veggies, and for a while cut
out all refined and artificial sugars. NO grains or refined flours for
    a while.

If you do this for a sustained period of 2 or more weeks, you will
LIKELY see a re-set of your taste buds and appetite.

So if you are seriously not a troll, then seriously take the advice.
I somehow doubt though, you will follow this advice. But like those
nuns in "The Sound of Music", I like to have faith in my doubts.

Yes -- and he should HAVE some cold turkey, too, while he's at it!

Well, that explains your silly and possibly dangerous faith in JC. Oy,
you're just like my mother, unable to see bad in anyone. Ah, well, there
are worse qualities. FWIW, I am not sure either if this guy is a troll or
not. If he's not -- well, I hope he takes your advice because it's very
    good.

    Thanks Julia,

You have to have a PLAN. Generally speaking, for anyone who has problems
controlling what they eat, deciding to just "cut back" on something doesn't work.
Investigate whichever plan you are considering, then MAKE A DECISION. I
emphasize the MAKE A DECISION part because until you do, you'll be floundering.
I speak from experience. Somewhere along the line after being on Atkins for a
while, I realized that I was actually enjoying the aroma from a bakery and
walking on by without the slightest thought of actually indulging in any of the
baked goods because the decision had ALREADY been made before I was ever exposed
to the wonderful aromas, therefore, there was no stress of having to make a
    decision at that point.

Once you make a decision, if it's at all feasible, get rid of ALL non-plan food
items in your house -- ALL OF THEM. There is a food bank about 2 miles from my
house, so I gave most of my unopened stuff (including frozen items) to them. I
gave some opened stuff to my sister. Some of it I just plain threw out.

P.S. I don't normally jump on spelling unless it's a typo that invites shared
humor, but I have to jump on THIS one because it's only going to invite ridicule
otherwise. A BOWL is a container. A BOWEL is an intestine. It's hard to take a
post seriously with the images conjured up by a description of a BOWEL of cereal
(although, technically, an intestine IS a container of sorts and cereal WILL end
    up there evetually :-).

  10. I would suggest cutting out the raisenettes and replacing them with
    equal amounts of snicker bars.

I have a friend who did this and it worked. she chose the worst image of
herself she had and placed it on the fridge. Joined a weight watcher's
group and lost 110 pounds and got the tummy surgery. kept the image on

That's a little delusional, since people have bad in them. Do you, perhaps,
