O.Symmetric rings aren't just "elliptical". Apparently they do detailed spin scans of your pedal strong to determine the weak points. They build the ring in such a way that you spin is optimized throughout the stroke to have more consistent torque throughout the stroke. Interesting concept - but I'll continue to work on smoothing my pedalling rather than put those crazy things on.

He mis-stated - the rings are designed to change the ratios slightly to acount for the different torque at different parts of your pedal stroke. And they can't work very well because the stroke torque changes are great deal more than they can compensate for. And they feel funny.
