  1. I was given a juicer and plan on using it mainly for health and not for taste.

About all I can think to do with it is...juice carrots and beets and celery and
drink the stuff as fast as possible, so as not to taste it. You can tell I'm
not very creative with this stuff. Are there any good juiceable combinations
(either for health or for taste) that I should be trying?

  4. Don't worry about the taste, your palette should change over time.
At first I found beet juice was repulsive and tasted like soil, but when
mixed with carrots it was palatable.
Eventually I could drink raw beet juice without retching.
I roughly did the Gerson diet for a few months and my skin turned orange
with the carrot juice, so my friends nick named me 'beta carotene man.'

Some juices I drink are :-

(I start in the morning breakfast with added teaspoon of vitamin c powder
    and 1g of lysine)

Tomato, Tomato Carrot, Carrot, Carrot Beet, Carrot Apple Beet, Carrot
    Orange. Orange, Orange Grapefruit
Orange Lime. Pineapple, Pineapple Apple Carrot. Apple. Pineapple Orange,
Celery, Pepper Celery, Pepper, Lettuce, Spinach <nasty stuff tend to mix it
    with sweeter things.
Basically 'mix n taste.' Melon, Melon,Apple etc. you name it I've juiced it!
Also if your juicer has a homogeniser, you could add some of the pulp -
pineapple banana with pulp would be nice and chock with fibre.

Juices contain lots of sugars - if I remember correctly 1 pint of carrot
juice contains 46g of carbohydrate, so you may put on some weight.

I find that when I eat coconut I have more energy that just with juices
    alone.
Juices contain a lot of fibre also which is good for the bowels.

I also used Nat tools to 'estimate' the amount of nutrients I get in a
juice, to see how I'm meeting near RDA.
(The sweeter juices tend to be the ones with more fruits in them)
Juicing can get very boring after a while, and I tend to lapse and eat
    rubbish like biscuits etc.
Anyways I'm off to get a nice pint of cabbage juice 😉

  9. Although not a proud "Juicer" owner (I have this rrational fear I might
live to 118 years, 4 months), I do use a "Blender" (Oster by name).

My favorite liquid recipe is as follows...

    12 oz. absolutely fresh strawberries
    1 & 1/2 oz. Light Rum
    1/2 oz.fresh lime juice
    1 heaping teaspoon sugar
    4 ice cubes

Let the Blender rip & pour into tall, chilled glass. Sip through straw.
    Yum.

  10. "Juicer owner"?. More like a "juicer" yourself....LOL

    Nice drink!

Among serious juicers, the machine to get is the Champion juicer.
They go for about $300 retail, $240 discount, and used on eBay
about $100 (be sure to include shipping when calculating how much
to bid -- they weigh about 25 lbs.). There's always lots of
Champion juicers available on eBay, and lots of competition bidding
    for them.

I've got one, and it's a mighty powerful machine. Anything less
is a joke. Forget about blenders, unless you're not making
juice very often and you're always using soft stuff like bananas
and strawberries. Also, blenders are hard to clean compared
to the Champion, which is a snap to clean.

I actually don't make juice -- I make nut butters. The Champion
    does those quite well, too.

I've heard that for wheat grass fanatics, the ideal machine is an
even more expensive type -- the twin gear juicer. This is because
the Champion doesn't deal quite so well with extremely fibrous
    material like wheat grass.

Here's the web site for the company that makes the Champion:
    http://www.championjuicer.com/index.php

A tip for anyone buying a used juicer -- many of the colors
offered in the past have been discontinued. If you will need
replacement parts, I'm not sure you can get any color except
white. So you might look for a white one if you care about
that. My juicer came with a broken part, and I couldn't
get a replacement in its original color (yellow).

  12. Speaking of making Nut Butters.

A couple months ago I got the worst urge for home-made Peanut Butter
Cookies. All was assembled, until I realized we were completely out of
PB. But we did have several tall jars of roasted peanuts, so in my
pioneer spirit, decided to make PB from scratch in the blender. Heck,
just peanuts & salt. Now THAT was a chore! But it worked. I'll
probably NEVER do it again. The cookies, however, were Great!
