Dear All,
I am getting a twinge at the back of my knee joint when climbing hills. I
suspect it is an overuse strain. Any suggestions such as suitable stretching
exercises? Any not too medical or commercial sport injuries web sites that
people favour?
Thanks
Neil

consensus. I'd suggest your local sports injury clinic or similar,
where someone who knows their stuff can see /exactly/ where you mean
while doing exactly /what/.Pete.

holds out 😉After that happens, come and see me again and I'll write you a prescription
for a Rickshaw pulled by a little yellow man. -
From that you would progress to an All-terrain, 24 -speed , zimmer frame.

anti-inflammatory (aspirin/ibuprofen), apply hot and cold compresses,
and rest. When riding be sure to keep your knees warm, and warm up your
muscles before riding hard because in cases of joint instability muscles
can supplement ligaments in keeping the joint tracking true. If it gets
worse take it to a sports injury specialist.
With a problem like this it can be difficult to strike the optimum
balance between pressure and speed when pedalling - pressure can cause
greater deflection of the joint and stress on the ligaments, while speed
(or rather number of cycles) causes more rubbing.
I had (even before my legs got mangled) lax ligaments which made me
prone to knee problems (both cartilage and ligament) and wearing fleece-
lined lycra tights in all but the hottest weather seemed to help, as did
a regular supplement of cod liver oil.
