Copperopolis. If Levi wins this year everyone will do
their Tour prep in NorCal.

But I don't think he'll win. He skipped the grueling Pro
Masters races (where the fields are ass deep in national
and world masters fatty champions). That's the level of
competition he needs to really sharpen his form.

Last year Levi won both the Copperopolis RR and the Wente RR in Nor Cal
and that didn't work out so god for him in the Tour. This year he only
tackled one of the demanding Nor Cal RRs so we will see how he does in
the Tour this year. 🙂

Levi is a very good rider, but he doesn't strike me as Tour winner.

At this point, I suspect that the real race will begin and end with
getting to start the Tour.

As to Levi's chances in the Tour, I can only think it depends on who's
left by race day.

He didn't in 2006 when the Operation Puerto investigation was just
starting. Now that it's in full swing, I doubt the TdF hinge necks
will allow anybody that 'may' sully their race start.

I see a Survivor series here, but they need to start soon. Entire
teams are being wiped out and on occasion just for the wrong
jersey(s). If that isn't like collecting a group of twits together and
voting people out based on gossip (admittedly, my view from watching,
say, 5 minutes of the stuff and hearing the next day gossip from a
bunch of twits), what is?

Levi has done very well without a team dedicated to his support. The
places he falls down is when he needs team support and has none. So it
isn't easy to say whether or not he'd a Tour winning possibility.

My guess is that the people he's riding against are no better than he
is.

Levi may not have had a good team behind him in the past, but last year he
lost the TdF during the stage 7 time trial when he finished more than 6
minutes behind the winner, certainly that wasn't because of the lack of
support from his team.

Did you miss the fact that Floyd had a bad day as well? With a supportive
team dedicated to him it's hard to say what MIGHT have happened.

Okay, that was a little bit of a troll. But he did win the Mountains
comp in Paris-Nice this year and the overall in the Tour of California.
He has typically had one bad day in the Tour ('05 being the exception)
and it has really not had much to do with lack of team support when he
was with Gerolsteiner, though the support was somewhat lacking when he
rode for Rabobank.
