  1. C'mon guys.
Lets leave Ken Caminiti where he belongs.
Now the guy I really thought was doping all along is busted, and
bigtime, and really hardly anything in the press or the threads.

Think about it, The Lion of Flanders.
Riding off the front in Paris Roubaix at age 34 whatever, dropping
Hincapie and Boonen, just riding them off his wheel, and going away
solo for 40 km on his own.

    Give me a break.
Of course was was on the stuff. I'm just sorry they didnt get him at
    the time.
George or Boonen would have won, wouldnt have been so bone-tired
trying to stay with someone jacked to the gills on HGH or whatever he
    used.

Remember how UCI had to protest because there was NO post race urine
collected "by mistake" the last time he won Paris Roubaix. Whoops!

Talk about freezing the B sample. They didnt even get an A sample.
Complete cover up by the Belgians.
Wouldnt Museeuw have gone around and asked or demanded a sample be
taken so the result would stand, that is if he were clean

What makes you think that Hincapie and Boonen were clean? I was up at 5am
this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I put the 2002 P-R dvd into
the computer. Museeuw was flying and a delight to watch. If you assume
that they were all juiced, then you have to conclude that the best athlete
won. Unfortunately, most of the classics have become rather boring due,
IMO, to drugs leveling the playing field artificially.

Well as I recall, if I'm wrong I take it back and apologize, that
Belgian officals were responsible for collecting the post race urines
and didnt. UCI was furious but nothing was done. Am I remembering
correctly or was it Flanders instead of Paris Roubaix?

Paris-Roubaix missing controls "an administrative error"

The French Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJS) has admitted that the
absence of doping controls at Sunday's100th edition of the Paris-Roubaix
    was an 'administrative error'.

The Lille regional director of the MJS was informed of the race by the
organisers, ASO (the company that also
runs the Tour de France) but confused the Classic with the mountain bike
race that took place in the same area on the same weekend.

Think about it. Why would Belgian officials be doing something at

All of the French officials were picked up for associating with known
dopers? I thought we already covered this a couple of weeks ago.
If not, I want credit for starting the rumor first.

Wasn't Giorgio Furlan's Milan-Sanremo victory not impressive? Or
Berzin in LBL? Or Pantani's Giro until Madonna di Campliglio? Or
Museeuw's Ronde '98 where he finished with foam on his lips? Or Riis'
Tour. Or Dario Frigo's Paris Nice?? And what about VDB's year 1999?
what drugs definitely don't do is leveling the playing field.

Some people say that the increasing testing and the developing of new
test methods has resulted in an decreasing doping use over the last
few years. Maybe the many bunch sprints in the classics or the fact
that the final of a classic is starting later and later, are a sign of
    that.

Roubaix has cobbles, so it must be Belgian. Why don't we ask that guy

When reading it first I thought he might mean Belgian UCI officials. But why would they protect Museeuw? Remember a Belgian
doping official reported LUDO's "confession" in the Tour.

But in this case it were French authorities who would perform the test indeed.

Paul Sherwen actually said as much (agrees with you) in his interview
of Armstrong after the tour this year for OLN.

I plead illness for the above mistakes, for some reason, although I
knew the French run Paris-Roubaix, I thought the race crossed the
border into Belgique...duh it doesnt. (close though)

Yes, it is unlikely to actually be a conspiracy but who knows. I
never noticed the organization missing the chance to give Lance a post
    race urine.

Anyhow, the point is Museeuw was doping and it is unfortunate. He was
a great rider but it is hard to see one of the "hard men" of cycling
    reduced to another mere doper.

    Dumbass -

Goddamm, you just make [censored] up.

In P-R, the playing field is anything but level since the advent of
    EPO in bike racing.

Museeuw has gone on two successful 40k solo excursions, teams directed
by Patrick Lefevere win most of the time and, to top it off, teams
directed by Patrick Lefevere have swept the podium TWICE.

Artificial level playing field? You've got your head up your ass.

No, the point is Museeuw TALKED about doping. But ofcourse he did more
than that 🙂 I find some reactions very strange (especially in flemish
newspapers). Besides the people who still see him as a the belgian
cycling icon of the last 15y, a lot of people who admired him now
almost [censored] on him. I don't know why. Even if it's because they feel
Museeuw cheated, they have only themselves to blame they look at
    cycling in a naive way.

I was the first to go crazy when Museeuw made a move. I was a big fan
and i still am (i didn't make a website about him for nothing :-) ).
At the time he was almost invincible (94-98), i didn't ask many
questions (i was mostly in a trance when he performed well). It was
the pre-festina era and i was a lot younger than now. But man, if i
see the footage of the Ronde's he rode and especially his WC '96 ( few
times a year), dzjeezes... It gets more and more inhuman what he did
and it definitely doesn't surpise me now what's happening to him at
his time. And that at a time with challengers like Fondriest, Tchmil,
Bartoli, Ballerini, Sorensen. (who knew just as he what candy they
    needed).

Nevertheless, you can never perform a decade on the highest level,
just on doping. He still has something special. Ofcourse, growing up
with johan's career did bias my opinion (you always hold youth
memories close). But if fact people who grew up with Eddy Merckx like
my dad have the same attitude: they all know Merckx was caught for
doping (several times),but they don't make a big deal of it and
    Merckx's career stays impressive.
