This year's Tour de Tucson, an annual ride round the Arizona city that last year attracted 5000 participants, will have an unusual entry in Phil Zajicek and Chris Horner, who plan to ride a tandem in the event and break the record for the 108-mile ride.

That is just ridiculous. Everyone is going to be fighting for that wheel and no one is going to be able to hold it.

They should get some kind of handicap, like these elite rowers got when racing a (fattie?) masters crew to generate attention for the problems of asthma patients: nlroei.nlFotoboek display 25774.htmlOpen ↗
(I bet they still won, the race was probably short enough to not last longer than 5 min.)

Yeah - if only your lot had been given a handicap in the ArenA last night - like about a 7 goal handicap...

It's been done before, most recently by Gord Fraser and Jimmy Riccitello. See Jimmy's account at Slowtwitch.com - slowtwitch.comtandem.htmlOpen ↗

I think by introducing that subject line he was implicitly infering that not even JC could hold their draft.
its not ridiculous. I saw them out "practicing" today at the river crossing. They had a sweet tandem with their names in cursive on the top tubes and were wearing aero helmets.
THey are so going to win, and if not they could bribe me since i will be volunteering at the finishing chute.
