or 1984 (I can't recall) and won both his Tours as a
"young rider".

Had the "young rider" white jersey existed, Eddy would have
won that as well in 1969, when he won all three other major
jerseys. He probably would have won the combativity
classification too; did they have the red jersey back then,
or did he win every possible prize that year?

I also hear he ate more than his share at the continental

The Giro d'Italia calls the same placing "maglia nera"
(black jersey). The punch-line is that there really used to
be a black jersey awarded!
