Who cares what a handful of people think? At the end of the day I ride
because I love being outdoors. Whether it's in the woods hiking, climbing or
the motorcycle on a nice stretch of country road doing 160, it's all good to
me.

When I had my roadster, there were people who constantly fought about
everything under the sun...biggest pipes, better engine, nicest rims,
yadayadayada. Now that I sold the car and bought a motorcycle, same thing
every Friday night, bunch of people and a pissing contest over who rocks...

this trip will require. I suppose I should quit my job so that I can make it
to your Lake City ride at a date and time you just pulled out of a hat or
something ?
Most people have to take vacation weeks at planned times within the year,
and can't just leave at the drop of a hat.
If you wanted to weigh in, you would find the time in the fall for this, and
make the exception. Its your back yard, your altitude, pretty much all your
advantage. And now it can only be at one single time of your choosing?

there is a dominant posting presence of SS etc. A simple glance here

one point for being willing to drive 10 - 12 hours one way from NV to CO.
Not that it should bring him even, but it should count.

This whole race deal is a bad idea. Especially since a simple glance at
some race results should prove the point. I know a guy who won the elite
geared race, got off the bike and then won the ss race. His fastest lap
time was on ss. I know people who are faster than me every day and the only
way I know if they are geared or ss is when they stop and I happen to look
at their rear drop out.

Hell, a quick look can find a national event with a ss finishing 5th
overall.

prepare Travis Brown's Trek T1 single-speed for the short track, complete
with a rigid titanium fork and mustache handlebars. "I feel like I get so

The long and short of it is that 'chasis' and 'transmission' technology
does not make a huge difference in racing results - the engine does.

Racers race, riders ride. Confuse the two at your own risk.
