leverage you get with those extra wide bars..

I borrowed bro' in laws Trek 4500 for the time being (faster

Not as far as I can tell - looks to have been just below it.
Haven't looked to close yet, was too damned shaken up and

it does - 3 or so minutes earlier, and I could easily have
been killed - I was riding at about 20 mph in heavy traffic
(busses, vans, trucks, cars etc.) and braking _hard_ for

I know that feeling well, from close calls in life. The most
recent, being a car traveling in the opposite lane on the
interstate losing control in a rainstorm, and crossing the
middle ground, and headed right towards me. Thankfully, it
was deflected back towards the middle by the berm the
interstate was built up on. It was rush hour traffic, and
amazingly nobody flinched.

I know that feeling. my six year old road bike has a
carbon/Al fork. Been meaning to inspect it. Maybe I'll head

How long a steerer do you need? I've got an old 1" Orange
threaded fork in the spares box that I'll never use again -
black, rack/mudguard bosses, 170mm steerer.
