I'm fine PR. Just disappointed in the way I've allowed my BAD eating habits to take over. I get
wound up with all that's going on at work and at home then next thing I know I've eaten more than I
should have or something I shouldn't have eaten at all. I say to myself "it's okay, it's just today,
tomorrow will be different", but it's not!

Food triggers and cravings can be caused by all sorts of things, either external or internal. Food
itself can trigger out of control eating. One thing I've found helpful in the past when trying to
bring out of control eating under control again is to completely eliminate all foods containing
refined sugars, refined flours, or refined grains (that covers most sweets, pastries, and
rice/pasta) and salty snack foods (like chips and popcorn). If you decide to abstain from these
foods, you might have to white-knuckle your way through the first few days. Post here whenever you
have the urge to eat; go for a walk or do some other exercise; drink water; call or write a
friend; use a diary-type of journal to find out if it's something emotional that's triggering your
munchies. That's when the HALT--hungry, angry, lonely, tired--inventory comes in handy.
I've been thinking I should eliminate all the trigger foods, popcorn, cookies, peanut butter,
crackers, etc. DH and DS wouldn't be very pleased about it though. I think it will be easier on me
if I can find a way to avoid those items. I really don't understand why it's so difficult now when
it wasn't a year ago.

If you're busy and going for the convenience and fast foods, maybe a little advance planning and
preparation would save you. Start your family's evening meal in the slow cooker in the morning
before you dash off to your day. During the Christmas holiday I did this once when I had a full
day of activities planned for my family. I started the Pepsi Pot Roast while I was fixing my
breakfast. When we all got home that evening, what a treat to sit down to a fully prepared,
homecooked meal that I did almost nothing to fix.
I've done well today and even made my lunch already for work tomorrow. Pepsi Pot Roast sounds like a
great idea. I might do that later in the week. When I started on WW last year, dinners consisted of
chicken breast, boneless pork loin, baked potato, veggies and salads, with a few different things
thrown in once in awhile for a change. I bought a case of chicken breast, pork loin and lots of
veggies and fruit yesterday, so I should be set for the week.

When is it time for you Brenda? When do you come first? With all you're doing, it's so easy to
neglect your own needs. What can you do to find some down time for yourself? When I had my family
all around me, eating as a way of self-nurture was so much easier than claiming self-care time.
I do neglect my own needs. Always have and probably always will. After DS is in bed tonight I plan
on having a nice hot bubble bath. I don't usually do the bath thing as I'm always in too much of a
rush to get other stuff done and end up in the shower and out again as soon as possible.

Take what you need, Brenda, and ignore the rest. Bottom line: glad to hear from you again.
Thanks PR. I'll try. I've always been so impressed with the support that everyone here offers and
I'm very glad to be a part of the group.
