Unless that trail is "mountain biking only" (very rare), my guess is that
HIKERS started those side-trails before knobbies ever got close. That's the
case out here in So Cal, anyway. HIKERS outnumber bikers many-fold, and
they're LAZY -- ALWAYS choosing the easier, softer way.

It's OBVIOUS! DUH!!!

Luckily around here neither of these are very common. When we do have
these problems it's usually in the fall when the new college students

When I think I'm going at a fast clip and they blow past me. Or they
clean stuff that I can't. Or attempt stuff I'm too scared to.

necessary to remove the obstacles on the trail.
On my way home from Colorado this weekend I saw countless numbers of "RVers"
carrying/pulling multiple 4-wheelers....

I didn't see a skinny driver in the bunch and I was looking.

The petro-toy set is funny. Yeah, a majority of them seem to be
morbidly obese because their toys allow for that. I'm wondering how
much of a damper the price of fuel is going to play in the future of
their nefarious pursuit.

Fuel costs didn't seem to affect traffic or the amount of RV's. I was only
out in it because I had to put the roof on my mobile home else I would have
stayed home and rode my bike......which I didn't get to do up there since I
worked the whole freaking weekend. wah wah

Hey there Carla.

Sorry about getting back to you so late. Grandma died and I had to travel
back to Edmonton for a week and a bit. It's all good now. 🙂

The Don is VERY good and up-kept well by local clubs and the city. There
was LOTS of rain B4 and after Katrina. The lower trails are now covered by
4-6 inches of sand and the water line on the trees is about 4-6feet high.
HUGE trees were uprooted and taken 50 yards or more. The Humber is about
the same but b/c is more paved trails the grass plains and lower areas have
many fallen trees.

I'm going for a rip today and tomorrow on both to see how it looks now after
2 weeks of cleanup.

I'll see about posting some pics when I get back 🙂

Hasnt stopped us in the UK and we have infinitely more to complain
about than your fuel prices. Fuel at my local garage just hit the
equivelent of USD$7 per US gallon if my calcs are correct, and you can
guarantee it wont stop them. But theres a place for everything, even if
we dont like it.
