You near the muni golf course?

I'm two block off great highway, outer sunset district. I think
the angels stick to the coast area for noise abatement. I know
there have been complaints over the years, mostly from people
with sleeping kids, so I think they try and stay over the water
now.

And your previous post about today's activity level was spot
on. I just tried to go a few block for supplies. Gawd, it's
as bad as I've seen it. Great Highway near the parking lots
is a, um, parking lot.

about wind farms for electric power generation. Boo-hoo.

I think we're at about the same latitude as SF so we'd have very similar
weather conditions. But this summer was hot and dry. I'm hoping winter
is cool and dry.

That's absolutely untrue. Wildlife organizations focus more on airpots
than all other man made structures put together... primarily the
guidance lights that mesmerize migrating birds, causing huge flocks to
fly wildly inside the strobe light columns... killing untold thousands
that can fly aimlessly until they drop out of the sky from sheer
exhaustion, not to mention the obvious threat to aircraft sucking them
into their engines. And this is of course an international problem...
US airports have gone to great lengths to alter lighting design but
most of the world's airports do nothing.

I gather you've never lived in Warwick, RI Tony. North and south of
Green you pause when a plane goes over, since you can't hear yourself
talk, much less think. East and west aren't so bad, I've lived in
both directions.

As far as rain goes, we were out west of Kingston NY this weekend, and
got 11" of the wet stuff Friday night to Saturday night. The area's
clay and basalt, so there's no soil for the water to soak into.

OB Food: the chef at the site we had our conference is amazing.
Breakfast and lunch are good, but dinners are always something simple
but interesting.

OB Cookbooks: Editions, the used bookstore on Rt 28 west of Kingston,
is going out of business sometime in the next two years. Worth the
trip.

In my area (SF bay area) the small bookstores are dropping like
flies. I'm down to one decent used bookstore (Green Apple
Books, Clement St. Please shop there so they don't disappear
too).

I like Amazon a lot, they provide an important service, but
they're not a substitute for a real bookstore.

morning and I am thoroughly impressed with these photos.

photos to show in the digital photography course I am taking on Tuesday
and Thursday nights. I also saw the movie Serenity on Sunday, which I

I just used my Mac with OS X 10.4.2 and iPhoto 5's export to html
feature. Takes all of two minutes to set up. What took longer is
sharpening each image so it looks presentable. The web server is one I
manage. In fact, its the same machine I am using right now to type this
message.

Not hide from view, position for maximum efficiency. In the Columbia gorge, where most of
the turbine towers reside, the rain is minimal, the wind is plentiful, and they sit off
the main roads a bit. We don't hide them at all.

Our power company allows us to designate that a portion of our power comes from "x" type
of sources..."x" denotes various earth friendly sources of power generation, of which,
wind generated power is only one.
