So after much wondering about the benefits of PT I, the last 2 days have been a great affirmation.
My last lab test showed a lactate threshold of 243. I therefore decided to set my FTP at 250. I received my PT in January and started training using the workouts in Andy's book.
Yesterday and today I took part in 2 races and some figures are as follows;
Sat peak 20min 264 (NP) (IF 0.996) (race was 1:30 @ NP 251)
Sun peak 20min 270 (NP) (IF 1,013) (race was 1:20 @ NP 255)
On Sat I still felt strong enough to jump with 2km go (unfortunately got caught at 200m from the line.)
On Sun the route had 2 climbs in it and I finished in the bunch (I was half asleep and didn't realise we were at the finish untill we crossed it!! :eek: )
So...I think I can safely up my FTP in CP to 270 (??) - that's question 1😉
Seconly, next week is a rest week which also calls for an Endurance ride on Sat and no ride on Sund.
The fact is that there are 2 good races (St Patrick's day in Ireland!) on those 2 days and I have decided to do both. I think that 5 easy days should be enough to not push me over the edge. The week after the rest week is quite tough so I may change some days (espeacially Monday) for a rest day.
Any thoughts on that ?
Finally, it took some sweating but I'm very happy with this power training lark..and the training workouts still has 3 weeks to go! 😄 😄 😄 😄
Now I just need to find some for during the racing season.
