What spindle length would I need on a 73mm BB running a single chainring? Would a 113mm one be ok?

Depends on your cranks. Different cranks may require a different length spindle to get a proper chainline. For example most Race Face cranks require the 108mm spindle.
Just check the manufacturer website, they should have some tech specs for your cranks.
