Sorry, but for road racing, it isn't.

Ok, call me silly but I cant find any reason why this bike isnt UCI approved for TT.
I see the Tubular/triangle rule 1.3.020 prohibits it from road races, but why TT?
I thought a couple years ago Lance rode one in the Tour for a TT? Maybe i'm wrong but i thought the design was similar to this.

Doubt if it was one of these, there a tank, look good but quite heavy (in comparison to trek/giant/scott ect)
A frame has to been build up in a 2-triangles shape.
If Im right the tubes can't be thicker then 5cm. Exception for the lugs: the can until 10cm thick.

That correct for scratch races ect, but TT and track are not covered by that rule (1.3.020) I cant see anywhere that this bike would not be leagle for TT's, mabey i missed something though....can anyone elaborate?
Isn't this pretty much the same?
So is it opening up too much of a can of worms to ask just why the UCI still insists on keeping innovation out of races? I was just looking through some backissues of Bicycling from 90-92 and there were a lot of cool new technologies being played with that have gone nowhere, and I can't help wondering how much the UCI is responsible for this.
I was also under the impression that TT was pretty much anything goes.
Ever try riding in a group with someone using aerobars? No thanks. UCI insists on reviewing innovations for safety reasons. Disk brakes will probably be legal for 'cross next season. Why was it illegal for this season? No one submitted disk brakes for review.

That's a pic from teh Tour DuPont, before the rule change went into effect. That frame is no longer legal for road race or TT

Where can i find more info on Asti? Do you have a pic of your bike?
You asked something like : is' the frame ICU legal'. It isn't.
If you can use it for races (TT?) is an other question. It depends on which race you're talking about. And for some TT racer, youc an only use UCI bikes. But races like in the Ironman, don't need UCI approved stuff.

Can you qoute the rule that says its not UCI approved for TT, Im still not convinced, I looked through pretty carefully and found why it can not be used in a road race, but nowhere dId I find a rule to disallow it from TT
Wheter it is approved for a race depends on the type of race..
I don't know what type of races you are riding!
The frame isn't UCI legal.
So you can't use it in UCI races (maybe time trial). Just ask the race-organisations/read on the web what the rules are fot the race!!!

Still missed the point, we know it isnt UCI legal for road races (1.3.020) BUT is it UCI legal for timetrials....I say it is as I cant find anywhere in the UCI rules that would outlaw it....did I miss a rule though? (I do from time to time)
UCI approved-> Frame of other part is build in such way, it obeys the UCI rules.
UCI rules in road races: normal wheels up to 58mm, more the 12 spokes, no TT bars, saddle 5cm behind BB, more then 6.8kg for the bike, triagle frame shape, tubes not more then 5-10cm and more of that stuff
UCI rules for TT races. The same. But rear disc wheels ia allowed, and a TT bar. Frame specifications are the same.
A race (road or TT or run-bike-run or ..., Tour) can dicide to use the UCI rules, or not.
So it depends on which TT you want to ride....
