its is a bit excessive perhaps bit i wouldnt kick it out of bed.... -
I wouldn't call it excessive, I'd call it indulgent. So what's wrong with that???
-
It is a very nice bike. Now if you added Campagnolo Bora wheels, then you would be bordering on excessive. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous, and excessive. 🙂
Congrats on the bike, ride it! 😄

Ride it and enjoy.........just think how much some other people spend on their hobbies, like a Golf Club Membership or Recreational Hockey. Sports Cars are pretty expensive too, and you don't get the healthy exercise from them.
That bike should last you a lifetime, but don't let it out of you sight, especially in cities.Safe cycling.........byfred

Nice ride, enjoy. Hey..it's your money don't fret it! 😄

Hi all,
This is my first post. I've just ordered a new C50 and was trembling after coming off the phone from ordering it. If you like it buy it because you're gonna be asleep a long time in a wooden box, when this life is over.😎 -
Agreed. If you love cars, you're likely to buy more car than is necessary to get you from point A to point B, because for you, a car is more than just transportation. The same can be said of bikes, and pretty much any hobby one loves and desires to pursue. No justification is needed for something like that. Enjoy it. Its a beautiful ride.

It would be excessive for me. The cool thing about the higher end bikes is that over time all of that technology eventually trickles down into lower end bikes. At some point it will be possible to pick up a bike similar to this for $1500. It wasn't too long ago that only the higher end bikes had aluminum frames. Now you can go to Walmart and get a bike with an al frame.
This is a little OT but I saw a show last night where scientists were talking about eventually buidling cars and even buildings inexpensively with composite materials using nano technology. It's all science fiction and conjecture today, but so was Jules Verne.

Nice bike!

Not at all.....it's a lovely bike!! You've obviously worked very hard for it, so enjoy!! There are people who spend more than that on Booze and Drugs in 12 months... 🙁
-
Excessive is in the eye of the beholder.
A former hobby of mine was collecting pipes. Yeah, tobacco pipes. I know guys who will gladly spend $4000 on a pipe if the workmanship is there.
YMMV, and life is short.

I know at least 8 people who have a C50 and only one of them is a pro. I also know approx 40 people who own a C40, so around here just about everyone rides a Colnago. From my experience, the only people who think bikes such as this beauty are excessive, are those who cannot afford it.
Love it, cherish it, but most important of all, ride it. It's not a bike to be hidden from the world.
I concur with the comment on Campy Bora Wheels though. Now THAT's excessive, even for a pro.
-
It's only excessive for beer runs. But I'd still take it.
-
There is no such thing as an excessive bike. If you can afford it, go for it. My wife, on the other hand, does not share my cycling enthusiasm, so her opinion of what is excessive is very different.
-
I think that it is a great bike and you should not feel guilty for an excessive bikke because I am 14 and I ride a kestrel talon with full ultegra😎

Mounted Foe..you had just better take what you can get there lad. innanimate or not..your attitude is sure to warrent off the ladies. Not to mention your teaching "abilities".
-
the answer to this one is obviously yes, yes and yes. for well under half what this bike costs i could easily build one thats pounds lighter and/or much more aesthetically pleasing. however, if i was gonna spend that much money on a bike and wasnt extremely weight conscious i would go with either a somec black dragon or a billato epoca. i think colnagos are way overrated and i personally own one.

Well! Am glad to see the poll results. Tired of hearing how "so and so" spent too much money on their bike. It *is* their money.
-
Not at all, it is exactly what any rider that enjoys cycling should have as an absolute minimum!
