  1. Hi all,

just wanna know if I'm doing things right...

for eg, for bench press I do 8 reps - 55kg
    8 reps - 65 kg
    8 reps - 75kg
    2 reps - 80kg...
    and then 12 reps x 2 - 55kg...

would this be right?? Ie I work first for muscle gain and then at the end
more of a toning phase... am I doing right?? or is my technique completely
wrong?? what do you's suggest?? I do roughly 3 exercises per muscle too and
they all revolve around the above routine...

    Any help, guidelines much appreciated.,.

On the surface, 3 exercises with this scheme would be too much, but that is
    for me.
How long have you been doing this?
    How frequently?

  3. Keep the two workouts seperate. One workout should be dedicated to
muscle building and another on a seperate day to muscle toning. Start
your workout with the 12 reps at a lower weight to warm the muscle then
follow it with your "working sets", ascending in weight each set.

  4. I've been doing this for about 2 months now, say bout 3 times a week. Well I
go 3 times a week, so acutally only work each muscle once a week,

Yeah had a feeling might be too much, its just my gains have gone to
    nothing.. need a change.,

    Sniff. I miss MFW.

Please, can't anyone chime in here?

I think you asnwered it yourself when you said that you weren't getting
gains. In my experience it doesn't matter all that much which
weightlifting routine I do, so long as I change it every few months.
I've done half-pyramids like yours and they worked great, but then they
stop working great and I got nice gains from HST.

What are your goals? What other muscles do you work? (Let me guess:
    chest, shoulders and biceps, right?)

The OP's schedule showed to 12-rep sets at the end, but I always viewed
that as more for a pump rather than toning. That's one of those easily
misdefined terms, right? Maybe I've done just that.

    Power of the pyramid! :-)

Look at HST, hypertrophy specific training. If anything, it has its
foundation on planned increases in load. You need a change if you are not
gaining. Unless of course, you have reached genetic potential.

Its sad really. The name "TheHealthCoach" gives it away though.
