I know what you mean. What really gets me are co-workers that try to
shove donuts and brithday cake down your throat. Their reasoning is "I
won't hurt".
Geez, it's very frustrating.
I'm a diabetic and would never consider messing up my perfect control
with a donut.

It's defintely not just you!
It's just you, because you're an idiot.

I don't. Unless they ask, people don't need or
want to be told they're fat, or that they smoke,
or have any other bad habits. They already know
and will do something about it when they are ready.

It is VERY tempting, because I feel so sad for them as I remember how
*I* felt. I was waiting at a stoplight yesterday and saw a couple
coming out of a Marie Calendars (a pie-focused restaurant for those of
you who don't have them in your locale). The woman was overweight, but
it was the man who caught my attention -- he must have weighed about
450-500 lbs and didn't look like he was any taller than about 5'4' - he
could barely walk! I wanted to jump out of my car and tell him about
Atkins. I didn't, of course.

I feel sad. I do talk about low carb and gastric bypass if someone
approaches me or the subject comes up. I still think like a 410 pound
person except there was one instance just Tuesday that I forgot. My
name is published in the local paper every other Sunday before a
weightloss surgery support group on Tuesday as I am the outreach
Coordinator and people can call me for info on where we meet. Anyway a
couple weeks ago a lady that is considering the surgery called me and
asked for ride to the meeting. I called her Tues afternoon to
reconfirm. I own a Yukon, Gram left me an absolute pristine Pontiac
Grand Am with 29 thousand original miles, and I have a Chevy Pick Up. I
sat and looked at the Gran Am for 6 months unable to get in it to drive
it. A bit over a month ago I decided to at least detail it, well low
and behold I fit behind the steering wheel with room to spare!!!I have
been driving it since. So... back to the story. I tell her "I'll pick
you up at 6:15, I drive a little blue car" She said " How little is
it?" OMG I was so embarrassed I just said " Ok I will pick you up in my
Yukon" Turned out even that was a problem. She was short, 430 pounds
and had arthritis in her knee so she could barely get her leg in so I
got real close to the curb so she was up higher to step in. If I had
brought the Grand Am she would have never been able to get up and out.
Poor Thing. I wasnt digusted, I felt bad for her as I know what she is
going through because I was near her weight 5 months ago. I find myself
very compassionate about the plight of super obese people now and more
than willing to help in anyway I can

Something along those lines.

No, it's not just you....... ;-)
I resist it tho' because odds are, they have already heard about it and
discounted it. I've discussed it with a couple of the 300 lb. plus
nurses at work.
They tried it and just can't bring themselves to give up starches such
as pasta and bread.
Some people just can't help themselves!

I feel so badly for them because I know how miserable I've been and how hard
the simplest of tasks can be...I want to tell them that there IS an answer.
I thought for so many years that there would never be one for me and of
course I project my own pain onto them and want so badly to help. Of
course, it will only stay a fantasy - "help" of that sort isn't usually
welcomed - it wouldn't have been by me either. So many of us understand all
too well - which is a long way to say that the thought crosses my mind every
single time.

Let's say for the sake of argument that Laureen will indeed reach her
goal of 180 pounds. Having started at 410 pounds, she will of necessity
be in the neighborhood of 300 pounds at some point before reaching her
goal, unless she has an unprecedented 100+ pound whoosh overnight. Her
weight right now is nothing to be sad about, because it is one of the
numbers on the way down that she must pass through before reaching goal.
It would be sad if she stayed at that weight or gained, but I don't see
any evidence of that happening yet.

And twice, too.
Beside all that, if one of you fat asses came up to me with diet advice (I
don't care if I weighed 500 pounds), I would have to mention that it sure
doesn't look like it's working for you. Now if you were somewhat svelte,
and I knew that you had once been a lardass, then I might listen to you.
