shocking when I did it X/C skiing, or immediately after jogging a couple
of laps around the track. I never hit the low point I witnessed in the
mid-80's though when a couple of guys lit up in the locker room after a
workout at a Nautilus club. With some communities even banning outdoor
smoking these days it's hard to remember the times when smoking was
accepted/tolerated everywhere -- even supermarkets and hospitals.

The best I can recall was one of the old farmers near my family's
place. His lungs were shot to the point that he required portable
oxygen, and he would happily lift the oxy mask to his forehead while
lighting up his unfiltered Camel wides. I always expected to see him
shooting skyward over the cornfields on a jet of flame some day...

May not be the WISEST course of action, but ya gotta admire that kind
of dedication. ;-)
