Well... it was fixed the next time I tried and we had a great conversation... gosh there had to be 6 or 7 of us all at one time - but the Java interface stopped working again in mid-conversation. Sorry if you mIRC users thought I took a hike w/o letting the group know.
LOL! Tell Vex he doesn't have to baby sit us, okeydokey? We only talked about chicken soup, banana bread, menopause and chemically altering our hair color... I think he has a filter set up for dirty words so *chemical* must have triggered it!

Same here. I thought it was my system. mIRC is freezing up on me, so I tried the java link. I'll drop a note to Vex.

That's why I keep telling you to use Yahoo Messenger...! You can do 'voice' and/or type! I always have such a hard time staying connected with mIRC - and the sad thing is that it doesn't matter if I'm connected with cable or DSL...
Oh well, maybe it's just me. Or maybe... nah, never mind.

Have you tried the Java link?
============
Yes... IIRC I've been disconnected from that too a few times... <shrug>
I guess I'm just cranky and set in my ways... and I don't type as fast as Dams & Jill... so I prefer Yahoo so I can use voice chat and can still type a few things too. Plus there are more features and I can change the font/colors, etc... <shrug> I just find mIRC to be a pain in my ...!
Wait a minute. I was online in the channel all night. No one came in while I was asleep. Are you sure you're typing: /join #rec.food.cooking after you connect?
BTW, sorry I was in-n-out. We have a house full of company this weekend and someone is going to sleep in my office too. I tried the web interface real quick and it's easier than using mIRC, I think.
I can't access the web interface. All I get is a blank page, no error message, nada, just a blank page. I've tried ALL of the URLs Damsel has posted and I get the same thing.

And how does one get the java applet? All I see is a box with a red x in it.
One goes out and finds it...Google is your friend.
Your answer didn't provide a whole hell of a lot of help. I have already searched java applets and I come up with pages that have literally HUNDREDS of applets on them. I have no clue as to which one if any of them needs to be downloaded.
All I want to know is what needs to be done in order to get a page that is something more than a box outline with the little red x that indicates a graphic didn't load.

When you get to that site, there should be a window asking if you want to download the applet required for this site.

I wish I could help. Hopefully, someone will come along who can tell you how to enable Java on your browser. When I looked at my Options, all I did was get confused.
