  1. Hi Group,

claud butler legend (£300).Can anyone recommend a agood company to use? Was
gonna try cycle guard but heard some bad info on other sites about them so

Check your house contents insurance: it very possibly covers it already:
ours (M&S) covers bikes new for old up to £4K at no extra cost.

Specific cycle insurance I've always found to be ridiculously
over-priced, and not necessarily any better.

    Pete.

What he said. My old house contents insurance used to cover bikes up
to 500 quid but they wouldn't increase the cover when I got a posh
bike. Shopping around I found separate cover was stupidly expensive
and full of exclusions. So, I switched the household policy to M&S
and found it was also half the price of what I'd been paying to the
    previous company.

M&S is definitely the place to go if you want decent bikes added to
your contents policy at no extra charge.

But don't necessarily believe that - the premium they wanted for my
buildings and contents insurance was more than what I'm actually
paying plus stupidly expensive separate insurance. I think it was
something like three direct line policies for the price of one M&S one
(though I didn't go to direct line in the end anyway).

So, while you might get recommendations here, you obviously still need
to check the quotes for yourself.

  6. Time to put in my usual plug for AA contents insurance. Covers any
bike up to £1500 each as personal possessions (better than treating it
as a bike). The Speedmachine is listed as £2000, but that didn't cost
anything more. The other 8 bikes are all covered as routine. All this
plus £45k contents insiurance for about £80 for us.
For comparison, Cycleguard want £158 for the Speedmachine alone and I
have to have it locked to an immovable object with an approved lock
even when it's in my garage. As the front door of my garage doesn't
have a 5-lever lock, I'd also have to padlock that too.
    AA usually faily competitive too.
    Cheers
