Installing spacer on Bottom bracket for single chainring set up

Sounds like you bought headset spacers. You need some of these:

I betcha they're for BMX cranks. Profile Racing (not to be confused
with Profile Design, maker of Aero handlebars) makes lots of BMX gear.

Take apart an old shimano cassette. remove the inside nodches from a
cassettespacer with a file, tada, now it's a BB spacer.

Cut out a notch where it interferes with the chain stay.
