The 45 degree "bolt" at the corner is actually just a
threaded cap. Once it's removed, you can stick a long 6 mm
Allen wrench into the hole in either of two different
directions.

Straight down the quill is a conventional expander or wedge,
I forget which.

If you stick the Allen wrench in horizontally there's
another Allen bolt that, if memory serves, presses a curved
clamping part against the backside of the stem.

You are correct, sir! I think it's an expander on the model
I saw, and yes, it has a curved, knurled clamp that pushes
against the back side of the stem
