    Hi guys,

    Have a look at the pictures at:

    This is one of my students projects which we are currently marking and
    having heavy debates about.

    Its looks are 'wowwing' my colleagues into giving it a very good mark and
    I'm being the spoil sport because having seen alot of bike designs from the
    last 100 plus years, I don't think it is that 'wow'.

    I think the student made the mistake of pushing the frame aesthetics and not
    the flat pack delivery, self assembly part of his brief.

    I was just wondering what people thought of it and if they had seen
    [specific] similiar designs which I could cite.

    does it degass over time? hehe don't laugh corvettes degass and there's
    considerabble hand wringing over here!
    is it handmade or does it pop out of a mold?
    what's the energy consumption to manufacture comparative to a steel and
    or aluminum frame?
    what's the toatl time to manufacture-your student defining the
    manufacture period?

    The problem with vaseline (or neatsfoot or any other petroleum based
    oil) is that it NEVER stops softening the leather. The result will be a
    stretched out, swaybacked beyond all hope seat.

    I would recommend wiping the saddle as dry as possible and hope for the
    best. In the future, stick to proofhide twice a year (more in dry
    climates or if the saddle gets seriously wet).
