Innovations Ultraflate Plus question

I "install" the cartridge upside down in the inflator device for storage;
the cap engages a few threads that way, with no danger of accidentally
piercing the cannister. (I only use 12g; not sure if 16g ones will work
that way.)

I also have installed the cartridge upside down for storage.
The problem I have is that the 12g cartridge is quite
short, so that when the multicup is screwed on with the
cartridge in the functional position, it doesn't appear to
me that the cartridge will be pierced when I tighten the
multicup ALL the way against the head. The 16g cartridge is
much longer and therefore not a problem. Yet the
instructions state that either one will fit. I'm thinking
at this point that something was missing from the package;
namely a spacer.

I had several 12g cartridges that worked then when I really needed it I could
hardly get it pierced (did not know that was the problem) but just find a washer
that fits in the bottom of the holder and that will give you the extra length
needed.

Thanks, Steve. My impression is that I WILL need a spacer
to push the cart. closer to the business end. Thanks for
the confirmation. I spoke with their tech support today and
they swear it will work 'as is'. I'm gonna follow your
advice... I just crazy glued a nylon ring to the bottom of
the 12g cart.

12g cartridges are cheap. Sacrifice one and try it at home; then
you'll know for sure. I'm pretty sure I've used one in my Ultraflate
Pro.

I thought about just cranking it down all the way and
wasting it, but I ended up just rummaging around in my tool
box for a suitable spacer and crazy glued it on the end of
the cartridge. I doubt I'll go through many of them as my
wife and I both ride with Slime in all tires. Our last ride
was so far from home, I decided we should now carry a spare
tube and the CO2 unit.

12g cartridges are cheap. Sacrifice one and try it at home; then

mine worked twice then failed. I was using the same walmart cartridges too.
