Inner STI lever sticking

If it's a brand new lever that's doing that, bring it back to the shop you purchased it from and
they'll probably replace it from stock. Once in a while you get a new lever that acts up like that.
The FlightDeck issue is probably unrelated though... most often FightDeck problems have to do with
the contacts between wiring harness and the lever. It's something you get really good at after doing
maybe 10 or so, and by the time you've done a couple hundred, it's amazing how low the "defect" rate
gets! Funny how that works...

So I just (involuntarily) joined the club of sticking (brand new) right Ultegra levers (Large shift
lever "follows" the small lever when it shouldn't. Result = no shift or very stubborn shift). I
thought I had the problem solved with a new replacement lever but the second lever decided to get
stubborn after only about 75 miles.

Anyone have a prediction on how many levers I'll need to go through before I get one that lasts a
while (that is if I decide to stick with Shimano and Ultegra)? I haven't found a huge differce
between Ultegra and Dura Ace in most other components, but is DA significantly more reliable in this
case? I doubt Lance could have won the Tour using the last Ultegra shift levers I've had.

And yes, I might consider a switch to a Campy system, especially if I can use it to shift a
Shimano cluster.

The one "advantage" DA STI shifters have over Ultegra is the 3 year warranty versus 2 years for
Ultegra and other shimano groups. In your case, that 3 year warranty may be needed....

Campy 9 Ergo levers will shift Shimano 9 cassettes. I'm using a Campy 9 ergo lever/Campy 9 rear der
with Shimano 9 hub/cassette and I have to admit it shifts "as good", if not better, than my Chorus 9
hub/campy 9 cassette....

I must say that in this case Shimano's warranty service was pretty good. They shipped via UPS 2 day
service and replaced the faulty Ultegra 6501 lever with an updated lever which has the
"anti-rattle" rubber band on the small shift lever like the 6510's. Total turnaround time was less
than a week. The new lever seems (so far) to shift more smoothly and consistently than either of
the first two levers that failed. Here's hoping it maintains its excellent function without needing
to be replaced again.

Mine did the same thing on the left side. Seemed to get a little bit better after riding a few weeks
but the problem was still there. Before I got annoyed enough to do anything about it I crashed my
bike and broke it. Since the insurance paid for a new one I put up the price difference and upgraded
to DA. Both shifters and RD. Never had a problem since.
