  1. .... they've all got it infamy!

    Seems I'm famous - or infamous ;-)

There was me, minding me own business in Norfolk's finest LBS, Specialised
Cycles, getting a tub for Nathan's disk wheel and chatting to Adrian about
what I might get Vernon as a Father's Day present, and this 'ere completely
strange bloke says words along the lines of, "You must be Wafflycat." Then
there was mucho guffawing between Roger & Adrian about my views on b*bs ...

    Hi Roger ;-)

    Cheers, helen s

Well paving slabs were mentioned in conversation in the shop ;-)

It was a pleasure to meet the celebrated Waffles -- and I saw no
    paving slabs.

    You can be second-finest and it's a close-run thing :-) I never get to
Diss - Norwich is closer and I readily admit that I really do get
*excellent* service from all in Specialised Cycles in Norwich. That is not
to belittle any other bike shop. Well, apart from Halfrauds which
    masquerades as a bike shop!

    Cheers, helen s

  8. Hey halfords near me does an excellent job on my bike. Even services it
for free for me if I'm doing a charity ride.

    You are exceptionally lucky then.

    Not so here.

Me to BikeHut salesdroid: "I need a 1 inch threadless headset please"
BikeHut salesdroid to me: "Sorry, we don't stock them"
    At least he said sorry.

Don't knock it. Could easily be someone who cares. Like a student
who is a real cyclist and needs a bit of income, and would rather
fix bikes (even at halfords) than sit at some checkout ...

Well sort of got in the car & went through the starting of car stuff then
the driving of car stuff, that's how. Oh, I forgot, cyclists & motorists are
different species and never the twain shall be in same human, according to
    uk.tosspot logic ;-)
